Our Know-How

In order to satisfy you as well as possible and to give to our cats a maximum of comfort and love, we developed strict codes of conduct as regards breeding.

- All the people in direct or indirect relation with our animals are professionals.

- We are holders of the certificate of competence to raise domestic carnivores and we wrote many articles on the pet and its breeding, articles which you will be able to find on various sites and animalist gates of the Web.

- Our partners (food, veterinary surgeon...) are selected carefully, according to their skills.

- Owner of a SIRET number, our breeding and our buildings are declared in prefecture and our activity, from its legal existence, is the subject of declarations and contributions near the tax services, and the M.S.A. (Agricultural Social Mutual insurance company).

- Our buildings (maternity, infirmary...) are the subject of an authorization on behalf of the D.S.V. (Direction of the Veterinary Services) which checks them regularly, and which benefits from its visits in order to consider state medical of all the animals present at the house, reproducers or not (because we have sterilized cats for our pleasure to share their life).

-All our kittens are registered with the L.O.O.F.. The kittens leave the house with their notebook of vaccination, advices for breeding (to help you to accomodate it as well as possible) and a contract indicating all the legal mentions. The heel of the card of tattooing will be given to you and you will receive by mail the new card as soon as it is established by the feline file of identification (generally 1 month later).

-Each reproducer, that it is male or female, is the subject of a rigorous selection for its at the same time physical and psychological characteristics.

- In order to guarantee kittens of quality, we select for each wedding the male adapted best to the female. Especially, we watch not to practise consanguinity, known well by the scientific middle for its dangers at the level of the health, including at the adulthood (recurring problems of health, premature death, behavioral problems, ...).
Of course that obliges us to have a number of males being enough for making this work, but... the Chartreux cats, we never have it too much for our own pleasure ;-).

- During all its pregnancy, the female profits from a very detailed attention: adapted food, monitoring of the catch of weight and the general health... and triple ration of hugs and massages of "bidoune" (stomach), to ensure an optimal environment for the growth of the kittens!!!

- The possible dates of births are calculated in a scrupulous way. Thus, a few front days, we ensure a continual monitoring, night and day, in order to be able to intervene constantly where necessary. It is very right if the female does not accompany us with the shower and the toilets ;o))

- The birth, that we detect in the 24 previous hours thanks to the clinical signs (temperature, behavior...), is carried out under our constant monitoring whatever the hour of the day or the night . It should be said that these ladies have a weak for the night births, preferably at the end of the night, to test our capacities of resistance... and to see if we follow...

- A very detailed attention is given to the babies in the first weeks: monitoring of the general health and the catch of weight by regular weighings. The thin ones and the large ones being duly reminded the order illico in order to return "in the rows"!

- We supervise the good training of the kitten, which is inculcated to him by his/her mother and the life with brothers and sisters. Eh yes, it is not always easy to have brothers and sisters, when it is necessary to share the "udder" and the mess tin... This said, if it is born a single kitten, we try to the maximum to make it take part in the Community life of another litter, so that it learns the rules from the cat life which will be useful for him in its life of adult.

- Obviously, we handle them as of the first day to ensure a good sociabilisation to the man. From the age of 6 weeks, we reinforce the phase of sociabilisation in their making pass more and more from time alone with us (without the other cats). It is for them the occasion to meet... our dogs!!! And for us a great moment of joy and often of humour...

- We apply a strict protocol of vermifugation, with products adapted to the young Kittens. This protocol was set up in collaboration with our veterinary.

- Always in collaboration with our veterinary, we chose the type and marks vaccine best adapted to a kitten.

- All our kittens are identified by microchip, process which is painless and avoids an anaesthesia, which is never desirable (except top priority) on a young kitten.

- At the time of vaccination, our kittens undergo a complete and detailed examination on behalf of our veterinary, who delivers his opinion to us on his growth and the his departure appropriateness from on our premises.

In short you will have understood it, besides pampering and loving our small boarders, we carry out our task with largest serious and all the professionalism of which we are able. And all this in order to prepare for you, as we say home, a PAC Chartreux (Prêt à Caliner, which means, in English, "Ready to Carress", "Ready to Hug")
